Second Doing Business Forum Advocates for a Competitive and Efficient Business Environment

A powerful call to unlock a more efficient and competitive business environment echoed at the Second Doing Business Forum, held on 6th November 2025 at the Golf Course Hotel, Kampala. Convened by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED), the forum brought together leaders from government ministries, public agencies, development partners, and private sector institutions to reflect on reforms aimed at creating a predictable and investment-friendly business climate. The event was guided by the theme: “Enhancing Public Sector Efficiency for Private Sector Competitiveness.”

Discussions during the forum focused on strategies to improve service delivery and create an enabling environment for business growth. Key areas highlighted included:

• Digital Reforms: Leveraging technology to streamline public services and reduce inefficiencies.

• Infrastructure Expansion: Enhancing national broadband and utility infrastructure to support businesses and attract investment.

• Product Certification: Strengthening certification processes to improve local production quality and competitiveness.

The Head of Public Service, Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, emphasized the critical role of accountability and performance in public institutions. She highlighted that timely and efficient service delivery is essential to reducing delays, minimizing bureaucratic bottlenecks, and fostering a business-friendly environment.
